OptiMed of Kalamazoo Provides COVID Boosters and Third Dose COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends COVID-19 boosters and third dose vaccines for individuals who meet certain criteria.

The COVID-19 booster shot is an additional dose of the vaccine given after the original dose(s), intended to maintain immunity for longer. In comparison, the third dose shot is given to people with compromised immune systems. This shot is designed to improve the response to the vaccine in immunocompromised patients.

"At OptiMed, we continually strive to improve the health and well-being of our community, and our efforts to fight COVID-19 have been at the forefront of what we do," says Danielle Melford, BS PharmD, Director of Operations. "We are excited that we have added boosters, as well as pediatric vaccinations, to our other efforts to prevent and treat COVID-19."
